Kilimo Fresh, a GSIV Tanzania finalist, is an impact venture that sources fresh produce from local farmers and offers last-mile distribution to its customers in Dar es Salaam, leveraging mobile technology to give farmers fair and stable prices and direct access to markets for their crops. The company also enables buyers to access fresh produce directly from the farms at affordable prices by delivering it directly to their doorsteps.

Smartcore has developed Kisomo, a blended technology and finance solution which includes a data-driven learning platform available offline and online, and accessible on smartphones, tablets and PC. Kisomo also integrates modern technologies to provide real-time education data to education stakeholders, allowing them to make timely and informed decisions.

Ensol meets the demand for reliable and clean energy in Tanzania
In the past 20 years, the production and distribution of energy in Tanzania have faced enormous challenges, including capacity shortages, low reliability of the power supply - which is publicly owned, and lack of private investments. Ensol, a GSIV Tanzania finalist, works on meeting the demand for reliable and clean energy by offering renewable energy solutions and providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to public and private clients. The company provides services such as solar water pumping, solar street lighting, solar water heating and solar minigrids.

Chanzi reduces organic waste and provides an affordable source of animal protein
Chanzi, a GSIV Tanzania finalist, aims to drastically reduce Tanzania's organic waste while providing an affordable source of animal protein to livestock. By doing so, the company contributes to reducing the animal feed industries’ over-dependence on fish and soyabean as protein source for animal feed. Chanzi collects organic waste from households, farmers and industries and feeds the waste to larvae of Black Soldier Flies (BSF), an insect native to Tanzania. BSF are used as raw material to produce nutritious protein animal feed whereas its frass along with the remainder of organic waste is processed into nutrients and mineral-dense fertilizer.

To fulfil its vision of connecting the unconnected and enabling higher standards of living, BLUETOWN has gone beyond simply providing access and has built a business model that breaks down key barriers that keep people offline.
