Our Focus

Growth Stage Impact Ventures

Empowering impactful enterprises in developing countries to drive SDG progress.

The Growth Stage Impact Ventures (GSIV) programme identifies and supports enterprises from developing countries that have achieved commercial success and significantly contribute to the SDGs. These enterprises are committed to integrating impact considerations into their decision-making processes.

Programme Highlights

• Selection Process: Enterprises are selected through a highly competitive process, and nominations are made by third parties such as accelerators, impact funds, family offices, international organizations, and governments. This approach leverages the collective intelligence of the impact industry and maps the ecosystem of intermediaries active in the country.

• Criteria for Selection: Identified ventures must demonstrate proven impact, product-market fit, and a self-sustainable revenue-generating model, or have already raised a round of investment, making them attractive to international capital.

Alignment with SDG Investor Maps

• Integration with SDG Investor Maps: In countries where an SDG Investor Map exists, the GSIV selection process aligns with the sectors and Investment Opportunity Areas (IOAs) identified by the map. This results in a focused set of sectors and areas for investment and concrete projects ready for investment and partnerships.

• Country-Level Impact: The programme enhances the alignment of economic activities with the SDGs at the country level. It supports the decision-making processes that increase the likelihood of contributing to the SDGs by helping finalists adopt the SDG Impact Standards for Enterprises.

GSIV Programme Impact

• Adoption of SDG Impact Standards: Selected enterprises commit to working towards the adoption of the SDG Impact Standards for Enterprises. These standards help enterprises link their approach to creating long-term, sustainable value to contributing to the SDGs.

• Global and Local Implementation: Since its establishment in 2019, the GSIV has been implemented globally in 2019 and 2021, and at the country level in Colombia (2022), Tanzania (2022), Nigeria (2023), and Cambodia (2024).

• Alumni Network: The GSIV alumni network includes 62 impact-driven enterprises across 25 countries, representing over USD 400 million in investment opportunities.
