The SDG Impact Standards are designed to help businesses and investors integrate sustainability and the SDGs into their management and decision-making processes. They provide a clear framework to support organizations in making better decisions by prioritizing sustainability and the SDGs.
These standards help businesses and investors determine which impacts are important and relevant, guiding them on how to manage these impacts effectively. If there is not enough data to make a decision, the SDG Impact Standards offer guidance on managing risks. They also help align goals across the organization, ensuring that governance practices support commitments and intentions.
The SDG Impact Standards encourage organizations to rethink their business models and partnerships to innovate, create solutions, and reach underserved communities, involving them in decision-making.
These standards build on and complement existing work on impact management and measurement. They provide a framework that brings together various principles, frameworks, and tools, filling knowledge gaps and improving current practices that hinder progress towards sustainability and achieving the SDGs.
All four sets of the SDG Impact Standards are organized around the same key components and structure. This creates a common language and approach for sustainability, the SDGs, and impact management, making it easier for different industry players to connect and collaborate. This foundation supports greater cross-sector collaboration and innovation in SDG financing solutions.
